Mommy here. My little baby girl is 16 months today, I can't believe it. Where has the time gone? As far as updates, she is talking a lot more. Only some words that you can recognize. Her new thing is to look for birds and ducks. She does the sign language for birds and then she does the quack sign for ducks...it is pretty darn cute. She gets so excited when she sees one as well. In BJ's yesterday she pointed to a heron statue they had on display and started doing her signs and pointing. She picked it out on her own. She even stopped on our walk to point out the duck statue in our neighbors lawn. It is just too cute. Here is her word list:
*go-usually at the cats who are in her bedroom or playroom
*coco-not a new one
*cheese-she pronounces it "teese" this is when I have the camera out (however this morning she picks up the camera and point it as herself and says teese)
*bird-I'm not sure how she pronounces it yet, I haven't deciphered. but it starts with a b.
*uh oh--and this comes out pretty clear. I was going into her bedroom this morning to get her after she woke up and i hear "uh oh" and I walk in and her blankie was on the floor and she was pointing to it saying "uh oh" It was cute and funny.
*mama-all the time she says this! its most of the time when she wants something, like more food, everything is mama and she points.
*papa-dada became papa nowadays.
*oh
That is all I can think of at the moment. She is definitely becoming more independent with the walking. She refuses to hold my hand now, only when it's her choice. However, when she is in the playroom with me she always wants up to sit next to me in the chair. She is very adamant about this as well.
Grocery store or shopping trips have gotten better as long as I go when she just wakes up or is not tired. This usually makes it a lot better. It's even better if she has some food in her hand in case she gets hungry. We think that she is on the "seefood" diet! She definitely gets that from her daddy!
She has 11 teeth that have worked their way through the skin. The 12th one is only halfway through, which makes it more fun for us!
When you say, "how big is Haley?" She raises her arms and put her hands on her head....again really cute. One day I will get this on video!
She knows some body parts, but not all of course. She knows: ears, nose, tummy, belly button, mouth. I think that is it...we don't work on it as much as we should I am sure.
She does know that socks go on her feet along with her shoes. She pulls her socks off all the time still, but then tries to put them back on. Or on my feet. When I get out her socks, she lifts up a foot for me to put it on. She also does this with her shoes.
Putting on her pants, if she is sitting on your lap, she will put her legs through. Very helpful. Also while taking off the pants if she is standing up, she will pull her legs out of the leg holes to get them off. Very clever.
She uses the sign for more all the time now. I go to pick her up in the morning and she signs more. So I am trying to teach her hungry, she did it this morning, but I think she was just mimiking me. We will see if it sticks.
Temper tantrums are still there if she doesn't get her way. Yesterday was wanting to hold the juice box after squeezing it all over herself.
She is getting good at using her plasticware! She is good at stabbing things with the fork and her scooping is getting there. She turns the spoon before she puts it in her mouth, so most of it falls off before it gets to her. She usually ends up starting with the fork or spoon, but then gives up and uses her hands. I think she can shovel it in faster that way. This makes eating yogurt so much more fun and messy!
I believe that is all of her updates for now. Here are a couple pics from her playing this morning.
